
Last year saw the launch of the first annual Small Business Saturday, and the little movement that could has gained lots of momentum heading into it’s second year. Right now the Small Business Saturday Facebook page has over 2.4 million fans and now even the White House is encouraging Americans to shop small this Saturday. American Express has really put a lot of effort into their social media campaign for this event. Thousands of people have committed to spend money at a local small business, whether it’s a bookstore, boutique, restaurant, plumber or other service.
Movements like these are a great way to keep money in our communities and support local entrepreneurs. And while all small businesses are not diverse businesses, the reverse is often the case. Cheers to all small businesses across the country, and Happy Small Business Saturday!
