A recent article from the University at Buffalo Reporter highlights the successes of the university’s supplier diversity initiatives. In the past few years, UB’s construction contracts with M/WBEs have totaled over $100 million. This great article examines not only the strong supplier diversity program at the univeristy, but also an up-and-coming MBE in the construction industry.
UB sets lofty diverse supplier participation goals for construction projects. One major project exceeded these high standards, with participation rates of 19.52% MBEs and 7.32% WBEs. In addition to contract goals, UB also sets workforce goals, which indicates the number of hours worked on a job by minority and female workers.
