History

MBEConnect was launched in 2009 as a business social network designed to generate meaningful connections between M/WBEs and potential business partners, including other M/WBEs, corporations, organizations, and government agencies.

MBEConnect began working with top diversity organizations and attending major supplier diversity conferences across the country. Soon, MBEConnect started offering media services, including photography, audio and video, at these events to help capture the most important movers and shakers in the world of supplier diversity.

Through these endeavors, M/WBEs indicated that they wanted more exposure to other businesses and opportunities. An idea emerged for a diversity publication that places emphasis on the innovative M/WBEs and their visionary owners. MBEConnect Profiles magazine was launched in early 2011 and initially featured the 14 WBE Stars selected by WBENC. Unlike other publications, MBEConnect Profiles gives M/WBEs a voice through a two-page interactive document known as a Business Profile. This document can be used by the business owners long after it is published in the magazine, making it a powerful and unique marketing tool.
